I’m about to embark on a small project to replace the A pillar seals on my ‘79. I’m wondering if any forum members have done this and if there’s any advice or lessons learned?

Thanks in advance.

I would recommend getting a copy of the Factory Assembly Manual from one of the aftermarket Corvette suppliers.

The rubber seals fit into retainers that are screwed to the pillar. Depending on how crusty the retainers are, or how bad the rubber is, you may need to remove the retainers, clean them really well, then install the rubber. The retainers will have a sealant between them and the A pillar, also. Use the black 3M Weatherstrip Adhesive to secure the rubber to the retainers, and follow the directions on the adhesive EXACTLY. Dry fit everything before gluing the rubber to the retainer.

If the retainers are in decent shape, you can clean them well, making sure there is no old adhesive on them, and then glue the rubber to the retainer. Dry fit first, as well.
