Vette(s): 82 Vette collector's edition - 350/700R4/Dana44 - Mostly stock, but looking to add more pep...
When I first bought my '82 CE two years ago, a local Chevy dealership mentioned that I could upgrade my engine's computer module.  I believe this is the one in front of the battery behind the seat.  The cost would be around $350.00.

Has anyone tried to upgrade this device, and was there any improvement in the car's performance?

Vette(s): 2004 Commemorative Edition Coupe, Auto w/HUD. 13K miles in 2015. Sold 1982 Red Coupe
I put the Hyper-tech chip in mine to change the shift points.
It makes it much smoother when you keep in in overdrive all the time, even in city driving.
I don't believe it enhanced performance.
Cost was about $130 from Mid-America.
I did the swap. You need to keep the old chip to swap back when you do a tune-up.
So my conclusion is it helps, but barely noticeable, IMO.

Vette(s): 1982 Black, ZZ4, Hooker Side Pipes, 3.55 Rear, Rebuilt & upgraded 700R4, All new suspension, brakes, & new Charcoal interior.
Not sure what they mean by up-grade. I replaced mine with a new one for about $60. I don't think it's worth $350, whatever it is.
