Did GM actually make such? I've seen an item on EBay claiming to be an NOS electric sport mirror for an 80-82. Any info on these will be appreciated. Thanx.

Lectric sport mirrors were an option starting in '81.
You could prolly put them on any car that came with sport mirrors....iffin ya wanted to do all the wiring/switches.

$800.00 starting price.

I'd be surprised if they sell.

Yep. GM made them, but they were not available on the 1980 models. You can retrofit them to the 78-82 models. You will need the wiring harness and the console joystick. They mount the same as the regular sport mirrors.
I'd like to have a pair, but not at $800.

Thanx for the info, guys. I'm considering making a pair using olds electrics and a pair of vette sport mirror housings. The relay can go almost anywhere so that's easy. Anyone got a pic of the joystick location for a "real" set? I don't now whether I'll try to use a 25 year old joystick(if I can find one) or just use a newer switch assembly from some other GM car. Since I'm going to put them on a 74, I still have to figure out the actual location for them on the doors too. Anyone have a handy template for that?

Try these folks: http://www.contemporarycorvette.com/about.html
I got a dash wiring harness from them for 1/4 of the cost of new. They had it on the shelf and I had it the next day. I'll bet they have the harness, right/left switch, joystick, etc. you need. You could probably get it cheap because it's used, and you could replace anything that seems weak while still on the bench. You can get a new console bezel from Eckler's and others, so you have the holes in the right places.

Center of the tailpiece on the console. If your console has been replaced, the replacement might have the hole position marked on the underside. Also shows left/right select switch.

Thanx for the pic and the link. I'll send an email shortly and see if contemporary corvette has the parts available. Again, thanx, guys.
