'79-82 Seats in an '71

I am looking for some help.  My wife has a '71 and she has been bugging me for a set of seats like she had in her 81 a few years ago.  I thought this would be a pretty easy swap.  We bought a complete set of tracks and seats and I figured they would just drop in.  Not so much.  I have tried a few ways...late model tracks were modified with the back feet from the 71.  This set up bolts right in until I attache the seat to the tracks.  I am working on modifying the 71 tracks now, but do not want to start drilling or cutting until I am sure I have a plan that will work.  Has anyone tried this?  Any input will be greatly appreciated.

I installed the 78 to 82 seats in my 77, they just bolted in without any modification. I beleive they will be approx 1 in higher. the thing I beleive you would not be able to install is the electric seat rack it would add an additional 3in to 4in  in seat hight. I beleive the 78 to 82 floor tub is lower
