Hi.   I'm about to replace the damaged (and in one case missing!) rubber cushions that meet the adjuster bolts at the bottom of the seat backs on our '78.

I noticed that the bolts on our car have a lock-nut on them.   However, the AIM does not show a lock nut, only the washers that I also have.

Does anyone else have the lock nuts on these bolts, of is an addition by a previous owner?   I'll need to alter the adjustment bolts when the new cushions go on and ideally I need the space that the lock nut is taking!  But,  I'm not sure if maybe I  need the lock nuts.

Thanks!

My 72 doesn't have any lock nuts and my AIM is the same pic as yours.

Thanks.    So I assume that they don't turn by themselves over time then.     That was the only reason I could see for fitting the lock nuts.

I want to eliminate the nuts as I'll need a little bit more adjustment when the new cushions go on.

Mine are pretty old and easy to turn.  I think they do turn a little by themselves with use.
