During an inspection of the dash harness I found lots of burned wire...I have figured out the build date of 7/27/78..I have read parts may have been made as early as 6 month prior..So my vett may be a late production the harness maybe a early production....Jan or Feb of 78..
When I look at a new harness they ask about the Dome light timer location..left of colume or behind glove box, depending if a 78 E or 78 L .
Is it a matter of design or is there some special reason for the location change...it does not change the price.

GM would not have moved it unless there was a logical reason to do so. Don't know what that reason would be, tho, unless it made the assembly of the harness easier, or made the service of the timer easier.

Pulled from the swamps of Miami!
Its a driver and back on the road!
So left of column proves its an early78? That's the location of my timer an I am sure mine is not as it came off the showroom but appears to be an afterthought and just hanging there with no bracket or attachment.
Just curious.
