Vette(s): ' 76 Customized .Mid year rear window ( ' 67 style ). It has an '80 nose,'80 rear bumper , and a 76 hood . Also , I squeezed in a ' 94 Vette LT1 . Paint is a custom mixed BLACK with RED PEARL mixed in !

This is directed to anyone who has done this . I have a 76 that I just put an 80 nose on. Problem is with the hood latches . I know they are different than the 76. I have the correct ones for the 80. My problem is, they DO NOT bolt on the cowl in the same position as the 76 did .

Please let me know what you did to fix this problem . Anything short of replacing the cowl would be nice. Thanks

Why not just use the '76 hood? It will still fit, and there is no difference in the looks.(stock, anyway)
Otherwise, you'll have to get the locks/latches(for the cowl) from an '80 car to put on yours.

Well, reason for not using the ' 76 hood is that the car was in a front end hit . There was nothing left of the nose, to speak of . I wanted to change the look , so I went with the ' 80 nose . I wasn't aware that the dimensions of both hoods were the same . I know they look different , but I'm not sure if they are different sizes ( length, width, etc ) . My other concern would be :  does the hinge mount in the same spot on both hoods ?

I already have the latches for the ' 80 nose. But, as I said, they mount differently . Looks like a call to the bone yard is coming in the very near future !

Thanks for the help !

It might be easier to relocate the latches in the hood than to graft in on the cowl. The easiest way would be to find a decent 76 hood.

Recommend you put the old latches on the new hood.  The old ones are more friendly and to modify the new hood is easier than modifying your cowl.

Sure beats the hell out of trying to attach the ' 76 hood brackets to the ' 80 hood !   With all the money I sunk into that monster ( what with the ' 94 LT-1 in it now ) what's another $ 300 ?
