I just bought a 73 L-48 4 speed coup that has been sitting in a storage locker for 18 years. It is a fairly early 73, unit #407011. It is orange with one old, pour repaint in black. Car has had some mods to the engine (intake, headers, etc. but the interior is stock and original (poor condition but complete). The car has a removable rear window with the proper clips, trim, etc. It appears also to be original. The cutouts for the the window pins look factory and are orange.
It is possible this car could have been built with a removable rear window? It seems so. Are there and 73 experts out there?
thanks,
Johnny d

I seen a 1973 vette converted to a 1970 removable one (looked factory) but never seen one in a 1973 Factory.

The removable rear window could be installed on all of the Corvettes up until about '77, I think.
All of the brackets/fittings are there from the factory...they just didn't go to the trouble of removing that stuff, as it had no effect on the operation/installation of the fixed glass used after '72.
Lots of folks did the retrofit...some dealers even did it...but none that I know of came from St. Louis with the removable rear window after '72.

Correct. No factory removable window after the '72 models. Your '73 has been retrofitted with the 68-72 rear window set up.
