I have a "loose" black 2 wire plug with one brown and one green wire just hanging in back of the compressor . it is about 15 inches long

Clues: it is NOT the one going to the ambient switch on the blower, the wire istaped together from the factory with the plastic connecting plugs on it, doesn't go th the thermal limiter by the a/c...

anyone got any ideas??? much thanks!

Sounds like the one that goes to my compressor clutch before I took the air apart.

I agree. The wire going from the pressure switch to the compressor clutch are brown and green.

Sounds like it to me, too. The compressor connector is flat, with the two wires side-b-side; one brn, one grn.

Got pics?
There is a two wire,(grn/tan) connector that goes to the pressure switch for the A/C.Adams' Apple38933.8463773148

The connector at the compressor clutch is green and black. One green going to the thermal limiter fuse and the black grounding to the compressor bracket. I think it is the one you speak of going to the pressure switch, wherever that is. I can take some pics...Do you have any Adam of your A/C?? Thanks

Thanks Brian....mine is exactly like yours... The black and green go to the compressor. NOT the brown and green.  So, I am still in the dark on the brown and green plug...I will take a picture of the wires/plug asap... you should have it going somewhere. thanks for your help!

They use to go to the thermal swict that was mounted into the head. It didn't let the distributor advace until the motor was warm. It was an emissions thing. Mine has been disconected for ever.

Dave, I think Brian is correct. There sholud be a sensor/sending unit in the pass. side head for the TCS(Transmission Controled Spark) system. It would only allow vac. to the dist in 3rd & 4th(in '73), and once the engine was warmed. The sensor in the head gave the temp info, and the switch on the trans gave the gear info. In '73, there was also a 20 sec. "delay" on the electrical signal.
I'll try to get a pic of my sensor plug/wires, as well as the press. switch for the A/C. Those wire have to be for one or the other.
