I am hoping to get the wiper door assembly put back on to my 72 before sunday. i was hoping someone has first hand experience and can recommend the best way to do this. my concerns: does the door/trans go in as one piece or separately. i didnt take it out and i dont want to scratch paint putting it together. thanks Rodney

Not sure what you're refering to, TRANS, but the door, body piece that moves up, has screws in it. The arms can go in seperate, then add the door later.

Mark, when I referred to the transmission I was talking about the mechanism that lifts the door up and out into position so the wipers can operate. Also what is the adjustment procedure to making adjustments to line everything up. Going to spend some time on it tomorrow night I hope. Maybe I can take some pics.

Thanks
Rodney

Not sure where you're starting, but it is a piece at a time proceedure. The large can on the fire wall for vaccume, has a black rubber plug on it. Pull the plug out and activate the linkage by pushing in on the diaphram. ALL the movement starts there. There are also two switches on the left right side that are vaccume operated that syncronize the door opening and the PARK position of the wipers. If they do not work, you're stuck. Trial and error with the rest. Go slow and be patient. Vaccume, electricity, syncronize. When in a pinch, rain, you can open the door by hand and run the wipers, then close it by hand. The by-pass switches under the steering coloumn can assist in the door opening as well. One is for the headlight doors, one is for the wiper door. They are vaccume by-passes. "Confused" I hope not!
