My lovely wife of 20 years got me a new radio and speakers for the Vette. Problem....as if I don't have enough is that the speakers from Ecklers say they are direct replacment but the hole in the new dash pad is bigger than the entire speaker. No way to make a screw hole line up without fabricating some sort of bracket. Did these have some kind of bracket from the factory?

I put Crystal speakers in, could only use 3 original mount studs but worked great.

Those speakers look bigger than mine. Can you tell me the dimensions?
I was looking through old post's and came across a topic posted on 7/23/07, topic; replace left speaker. in that member 74-454 posted a picture showing the bottom of his dash pad with what looks like a bracket holding the speaker to the dash pad. anybody have an idea about this.

4x6 inch, mine has a bracket that is attached to the dash pad, the bracket hold the studs that the speaker fits over. There are 4 studs but the new speakers will not align with all 4 studs. I turned the speaker about 1/4" and picked up 3 studs.
