I've just come from the body shop where my '69 has resided for the last 6 months. We are finally getting to see some progress. My body guy has a good portion of the car sanded and has discovered (under a few coats of cheap paint) a racing stripe down the middle of the car. It runs over the top to the rear deck, where it turns and runs down the side of the car about 6-8 inches from the rear. This makes the entire rear of the car the color of the stripe. He seems to think its original. I thought I was fairly knowlegable about this car but I have never seen or heard of a paint scheme like this on any 69. Have I missed something? Was this something that was available in 69?
Appreciate your input!

It could be one of the Baldwin Motion cars. Do a Goggle on 'Baldwin Motion' for some more information. It will be interesting to see if your car is one of them or perhaps just a paint-only clone.
Here is one link from the search I did: http://www.motionperformance.com/motion.html

Hmmm....
Do you think so? The car wasn't heavily optioned, a pretty basic "sport coupe" with 350/300 hp engine (numbers matching).
Thanks for the reply...I'll keep researching.

I've got a Fact Book for the 68 -72 Stingray which lists EVERYTHING you would ever want to know down the the casting numbers. In 1969 the only colors available were: Tuxedo Black, Fathom Green, Burgundy, Cortez Silver, LeMans Blue, Hugger Orange, Daytona Yellow, Can-Am White, Monza Red and Riverside Gold. I've never seen a car painted with a racing stripe as original. It sounds like it will look good though.

If you look inside the drivers door right above the door hinge you will see a plate with a trim and color code stamped into it. If you want to know your original color, I can look it up for you if you give me your paint code.
