Vette(s): 1979 red - oyster leather trim.
I would like to do some painting inside my 79 Vette, like the steering column and the back of the seats who are full of discolored glue. The interior color is called Oyster. I recently went at a car paint store and had a glance in the Dupont book who contained all the GM colors for 79. There are a "white" and a "cameo white". Can anyone help me figure out if one of these is really oyster ?
Any hint will be appreciated.

HI,
there is a company in WI called Tower Paints. they can supply you with your original car color from the codes OR send them a sample paint color from your interior and they will match it in a spray can. about 15 per can. i have done this and they do a great job.

Hi everyone,
I ordered a spray can of vinyl paint (oyster) today at Ecklers and I was really happy about it. Later, Ecklers cancelled the order because spray paint is an hazardous material that cannot be shipped outside the US. I'll continue looking in Canada.

Hi,
I finally found some interior dye in a Montreal shop affiliated to Corvette America. I received a catalogue in which I discovered that oyster color is different between 78 and 79-80. Anyway, I'll start applying the dye next week and let you all know how it goes.

I just replaced my seat cushions and painted the seat backs and bottoms with the 79-80 oyster dye from willcox. they look great and the dye seems to be very durable. While i was at it I painted the center console as well. it took almost a full can per seat.
good luck.
good luck.

Thanks for the tip Marko. That way, if it takes a lot of dye I will not be surprised. I have two cans on hand and I plan to paint the two seats, center console and some parts around the windshield and the back window. I think I'll order other cans.
By the way, Marko, do you have any photos of your Vette interior with that nice job done ?
Keep you posted !
