Hello, a newbie here...finally, I own a Corvette, I would like to know how to properly remove the arm rest pad/parking brake trim pad. I ran a search but believe I am not calling it by its right name. Thanks...it needs reconditioning of course...

Take the 2 carpeted side panels off the console. 3 screws each side, one along side the seat, one under the dash and one behind the seat. That'll get you a good look at how the armrest/pb cover attaches.

Essentially, the pad lifts off.  My advice is to purchase the 1979 assembly instruction manual (AIM) and take a look.  Lots of goodies in the AIM.
