I'm redoing the family Vette and I ran across a question I can't find answered:

I pulled the gauge cluster to swap out the clock, put in LED lights and check the temp gauge. In putting everything back together, it took a bit to get the whole thing into place, so I was a little concerned about cramming all this back into place.

When I turned the ignition to provide power to the inside of the car, the gauges all reacted as expected. The fuel gauge moved to full (which makes sense because the tank is full) but after I shut the car off, it stayed at full.

Again, my only real reference is my 1960s/1970s fords, which all dropped to empty when I shut off the car/truck, so I'm curious to know if it's normal that the gauge stayed at full.

If so, great. If not, please tell me what to check out.

Thanks,

Vince

My fuel gauge stays the same when I shut the car off.  Right now sitting in the garage it shows 1/2 tank, which is what's in it.
