My right front fender has been repaired in the past. My question is, to replace this fender on a 1972, is the fender an integral part of the nose cone, or is it separate and can be replaced relatively easy. I can't seen to find where the fender attaches at the front. Do you have to replace the entire front clip? Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks, Jimmie

Hello Jimmie,
The fenders can be replaced independently, however, this is not an easy repair. The front clip consists of the left and right fender, nad the upper deck. The fenders are bonded to the upper deck with a bonding strip. THere are more attachment points, but these are the major ones. Unless your fender is really bad, I suggest having a body shop with Corvette experience tweek it for you as this can be a complicated repair.

If you're in the DC Metro area I know an excellent body shop that doesn't specialize in Corvettes, but the owner of the shop owns a 75 a c2 and a c1. The 75 is finished and the other two are being rebuilt. Very meticulous. E-mail me for contact information.

Are you going for 100 points? If not, you can cut the fender just below the top crease and glass in a repair. That way you don't get the teltale ridge around the wheel flares. Joe
