How much do I need to bow the dash pad in the middle to get it out once I remove the pillar post mouldings?
The dash pad is perfect but I suspect a little brittle.
I want to remove it because it will simplify getting the driver's side lower dash back in place while properly routing the wire harness.
I have already dropped the steering column.
I cannot believe what a great help this site is!

Bill,
Not much. However, you have to remove the trim pieces on the windshield pillars first before you can remove the pad. Once that is done, and the one nut on the right underside of the pad is removed, it basically comes right out.
Good luck.

Be very careful I just removed mine last month. It came out with no problem but putting it back in was another story. It bowed about 3 inches and "CRACK" the damn vynl cracked. I don't know if it was the cold weather of just 30+ year old vynl but it did crack. Fortunately it is not very visible but I will still need a new dash pad. Damn stereo upgrades.

I am going to try and heat mine up a little to try and keep it from cracking.
I will post the results.
