1970/71 grill are both correct??

OK heres one that will probably start some controversy. My vert  is a 1970 and I had on it a 1970 only style front left grill and a later style right grill. I recently got rid of the  early style grill for a matching pair of the later style. I just wanted them to match and the fact that they had a couple extra screw holes did not seam to make a whole lot of difrence to me...especially because as cars where involved in accedents and such the later style was all that was available. I resolved myself to the fact that I would have a missmatch grills for the year of the car  (technically) and very few people would ever notice. I just bought "the corvette restoration guide" and read some thing that caught my attention. It states that in the later 1970 cars (assembled in June or July) they would  sometimes have the newer style grills and that even some of the early 1971 cars where found to have the ealier style !! My car is a fairly late 70 being produced on July 21 of 1970......so Could these grills actually be conscidered correct?? It will probably never be restored to the extent of realy worriing about this...BUT...I am curious how this would be judged if it where to. Thanks!!

Your car might have been assembled with either type grill, but it would have been assembled with the same type pair.  It's not likely they would  have used two different types on the same car. 6880Mike2008-11-21 06:34:05
