The rebuilding process is already underway at Mid America Motorworks Effingham, IL campus after a massive tornado ripped through their campus on the evening of June 17th, 2026. On June 18th, constructions workers, heavy equiement and tow trucks could already be seen clearing debris and moving the cars from the MY Garage Museum away from the scene. The good news is, from the looks of these images it seems the Vettes and VWs recovered are repairable.
You can see photos of the aftermath in this video photo compilation. Photos were collected from various posts on facebook, including Midwest Towing and Auto Sales that offered to haul the vehicles to a safer space.
After you're done watching the below video, check out this one of the tornado tearing across the MAM property.

Mid America Motoworks had planned to host the VW Funfest this weekend, but unsurprisingly the issued this statement to say it has been cancelled:
This weekend was supposed to be a celebration of Volkswagen Funfest in its new format, bringing together friends, families, and VW enthusiasts from near and far. Unfortunately, Mother Nature had other plans. Our facility has sustained significant tornado damage, resulting in a total loss, and we have made the difficult decision to cancel this weekend’s event.
While we’re saddened, we’re incredibly grateful for what matters most - our family and staff are safe.
To everyone who was planning to travel and spend the weekend with us, we’re truly sorry. We know many of you were looking forward to this event, and we were excited to welcome you. Although we don’t yet know when, where, or how, Volkswagen Funfest will return. This community means too much to us to let this be the end.
As we navigate the days ahead, we’ll continue to provide updates and share what’s next. Thank you for your support, understanding, and kindness during this difficult time.
Please stay safe, and we’ll see you again soon
