Heres something interesting i happened upon while surfing the net-
its a prototype for what would have been a 1964 pontiac banshee. this car was designed by john delorean, but was nixed because the corvette c3 was already on the drawing board, and the GM big wigs decided that the car would erode the sales and image of the corvette. they gave john delorean the firebird project and had a year to come up with a pontiac version of the camaro instead.
from what i learned it had an unusual clamshell door, and a straight rear axle to keep costs lower than the c3. its very close to a corvette, yet very pontiac.
anyone else ever hear or see this before? new one to me.
heres the link: (its in russian so dont bother to read)

There are some pretty wild designs on that site. Some of them I have seen before, but most are new to me.
The picture of the rear end of that Banshee looks like an early 70's Firebird (minus the chrome bumbers).

They used the "Banshee" name again in 1988 on this car also:

And those were not the first Banshees. There was a much earlier one that looked much like a 53 Corvette, and in that general time era. Pontiac has use the name on several prototype/show cars. I have often wondered if they will ever actually produce one of them.
