Vette(s): Silver 1974 Convertible - L82 4 speed Low miles (was only 8,900 when I bought it in March 2006) - Now 54K miles. Original owner bought it as an investment for son's college expenses. 2008 Jetstream Blue Convertible
Ok Corvette experts - ever heard of an Oldsmobile Corvette?  I found this article the other day, but I have a hard time believing it.  It says:

"In the early '50s, like '52, General Motors wanted to build a little sports car, and they didn't know if they were gonna put it in the Buick, Oldsmobile or Chevy line of cars so they ended up building three Oldsmobiles and one of them survived," Heisler said. "It was a gold-colored '53 Oldsmobile Corvette."

The Oldsmobile concept car sold at a Barrett-Jackson auction in 2005 for $3.24 million.

If it weren't for the Barrett-Jackson part, I would be calling BS loudly, but it adds a bit of creedence.  Anyone know more?

I wanted a Corvette my whole life, but I never dreamed of all the wonderful people I would meet because of it!

I remember the auction, the price and the car. I think it looked more like a C3 and Trans AMish, but I don't remember if it was from the 50s. Sounds reasonable to me.

I remembered that auction, watched it on TV.  I Googled it and found that it was a 1954 Olds concept Corvette.  Here is a link:

Thanks for the picture - I had the wrong car. The one I remember seeing was probably out of the Pontiac divison and loooked more like a C3 nose and an early Firebird tail.

Thanks Larry! Now I remember it too. I KNEW it couldn't have been a 54

If they had kept that idea with olds, do you think we would have the cars we have today? I dont think the history would have played out for the corvette as it did if they tried to sell that  design, I think it's ugly!!Thumbs Down
