I did drive both. Personally there was no comparison in the ride between the two. The C5 just molded to my body like a shoe. Plus 0-60 in a heartbeat. Actually I would take either one..

Marshall, I just test drove a Black 06 C6, GD what a car. First off I've never been a fan of the C6 (mainly due to the headlights) but I'm begining to come around. That car was so comfortable to drive, so fast, and has all the new gadgits 
I have no clue what your wallet can handle but the prices on the C6's (certified used w/warrenty) are coming down, this one was 33k. I can handle another car payment right now that my house in GA and my son's higher education loans are paid off. But I stuck to my guns, I wanted nothing down, no trade, and less then $500 a month payment. They got close, $535 but I wasn't going for it. So long story short, if you can afford it, drive a newer Vette that may still have a warrenty and is comfortable to drive and not much to worry about. Just my .02 cents. cilrah 2009-05-02 08:59:05

Low miles (was only 8,900 when I bought it in March 2006) - Now 54K miles. Original owner bought it as an investment for son's college expenses.
2008 Jetstream Blue Convertible
I have been seeing C6's as low as $32K. I don't think I'm ready for that yet.
Something else to keep in mind here folks - this will be a daily driver year-round in the midwest. Other than the cringes that some of you (and for right now, me as well) have with the idea of driving a Corvette in the rain (and snow, and salt), do any of you have concerns with a C4, 5 or 6 as a year round daily driver?
I followed Norsky's advice and have been reading my back issues of Corvette Magazine. They suggested that the drive train on the C4's can last for a long time, and actually seems to improve with more regular use.
The other thing that I need to seriously consider is - can a 8-15 year old Corvette really make a reliable daily driver and last under those circumstances for 5+ years? I've been spoiled with my current Daily Driver, my 12 year old Dodge truck with over 260K miles on it. I figure the only way to get another Vette right now is to make it the daily one (assuming the truck ever gives out), but I just don't know how practical that is.
I wanted a Corvette my whole life, but I never dreamed of all the wonderful people I would meet because of it!

Definitely go for c5,you can get some great buys right now. I'm looking for a c5 myself, got my eye on a 2000 black convertible,black top, with oak interior, with 31,000 miles

TRY TO STAY AS NEW AS POSSILBLE IF YOU WANT A DAILY DRIVER. C5`S ARE MUCH MORE COMFY THAN A C4. PERFORMANCE IS A DREAM.
