Take small steps you can afford.
I don't have too much extry $$ but
I can't wait to get in it and drive anytime I can.
There isn't one spot on the car that the paint isn't crazed.
The headlights don't go up and down but it runs.
The interior is gutted, but I can't wait to get in and drive.
Repaired the 85MPH speedo, didn't go for the higher speedo.
I'm bald (no hair on head) but I can't wait to take the T-tops off.
I still can feel the wind thru the fuzz on top while driving.
I had it a little over a year spent a little more than 1K and I know I'll never finish.
Hang in there.

If you don't care anything about Vettes...return it to dad. If you love Vettes, go for it.

Your pop may be looking out of the corner of his eye to see what kind of mojo you have.....An 80 is a nice gift.

Vette(s): 1971 convertible,375 HP 350ci,Muncie 4-speed,Edelbrock aluminum heads and RPM air-gap manifold,HEI distrubiter - old school mechanical tach drive. LOUD side exhaust!

You never have enough money. Corvettes are money pits. But after getting it mechanically sound, you can manage the bleeding. Buy stuff as you can and enjoy the car! Wink

  Sounds like the Windsheild Piller is the Major Repair and its no small Repair. I have Herd that Reproduction Pillers are just around the Corner and this will lower the Cost as used ones bring a Premium. If its Rusted out look real close at the Bottom of the Windsheild or under the Dash and see if its rusted out too. If so the Front Fenders Need to be Removed to Repair it right. Another place for Rust is the Bottom of the Door Pannels, If both PW Motors are gone bad things probably have been going on there to. An 80' will never be a Rare Car they just made to many of them. If by chance its a L-82 it will be worth a Bit More. However they are Rebounding in Value a Premium one might be worth as much as 16k and that will do a lot of Repair Work. Expesialy if You can do as much as You can Yourself. Richard.........

Umm, lessseeee....reality check...Free C3 Vette.  Didn't say if you are a guy or gal - and considering how mechanical some ladies are I won't guess which you are.  But - I have a 79 - It was a POS and it is slightly less of one now after about 1500 bucks worth of goodies.  I love the car and wouldn't trade it. C3s are really special - just take it out on the road on a nice day with the tops off and watch folks watch (and envy) you!  It is like being in a parade every day = I have folks of all ages stop and ask me about mine (esp ladies) and it always gets attention wherever I park it!

Great cars - Keep it and enjoy it. Put money into as and when you can - you will never be sorry.
C3: 1979 Corvette Coupe, Auto, L-48, Red/Doeskin (my wife's fave);
C4s: 1986 C4 coupe (SCCA road race car), satin black, 4+3, Z51 package, L-98;  & 1993 C4 coupe, white, 6-speed, LT-1.
