My question to the C3VR community is regarding the first car used in the popular televison detective series, Miami Vice, which aired from 1985-1989. I heard through some discussion that this car was a modified Corvette and was badged and referred to as a Ferrari "Daytona". Is this true? Does anyone have any information or know where it can obtained on this car? I have always liked the car and if it was a modified Corvette I may seek another similiar car in the future....thanks.

There is such a car as a Ferrari Daytona. I don't know what was on the show.

Yes, that WAS a modified Corvette. I guess the real Daytona was a bit too expensive to beat around on a TV show! I remember seeing one not quite finished cruising around the streets of Chicago back then. If you knew Corvettes you could tell that it was a Vette! Mike

It was a corvette modified with different panels, badges and lights. A company in England bought a set of the panels and now sell a complete kit with a space frame chassis to take whatever engine, suspension and rear end that you want, so you wouldn't have to cut up a vette. The company is called Southern Roadcraft and are based in Sussex in England. I think they supply everything you need to make a complete car.
