Vette(s): 1972 Convertible; Targa Blue. Factory A/C. 1971 LT-1 Motor; Dart Pro I heads; Comp Cam; Roller Rockers; Holley 770 Carb; MSD Igniton; Hooker Headers/Side Pipes; Tilt/Tele; PS; L-88 Hood.
I purchased my 72 in Feb of this year.  I need to get it inspected but don't know of any stations I can trust that will be gentle with the car. I don't want to bring it to someone and drive out will scratches or be mis-handled.
I'm located in Medford, NY; basicly in the middle of Long Island.
Is there anyone that can recommend a station that they trust to do the inspection?

Check out any of the Big name tire stores ,Firestone ,Goodyear,Etc.Or your local Chevy Dealer,It may be more expensive,I don't know if its different down on the ISLAND ,but up here in Upstate N.Y.we only have to get the basic inspection,Classic-antique.it's only $10.00,no-emissions.Get in touch with Long Island Vette club ,they might be able to put you in touch with somebody in your area .W.W.W.LICorvettes.com Thumbs%20UpRon 782007-07-04 06:18:59

It will be a safety inspection only on a car that "old".
They will need to drive it to check the brakes, regular and parking brakes. Make sure your windshield wipers are in good condition, as they check them very closely. Of course, all of the lights and horn must work, too.
I can't recommend anyone up yonder, but...when you find one that takes care of your car, take ALL of your cars there. You'll be surprised at how much better they'll treat you and you cars once they see you are a return customer. I take all of my cars/truck to the same place, and it's about a 30 minute drive for me, but...I never worry about one of my cars being damaged, or failing inspection because of wiper blades!
Also, you can do a "Member Search" to see if there is another member in your area, that may have a suggestion.

They don't drive them in NY. Just look to see if you have pads/shoes left. You don't get much of a check for $10.
Horn, backup lights, turn signals, brake lights. That's about it.
I used to take mine to a small garage on a Saturday morning and helped the mechanic do the check. Just make sure all the lights work.
