I recently purchased a very well kept convertible 2000 in Dark Bowling Green with tan interior and a six speed. She is in extraordinary condition and she completes my fleet at the moment. While going over the car very carefully I came across a micro switch installed under the center console and it is located right under the hinge. While I know I could disassemble the center console and trace back the wires I thought it may be simpler to try to track down the former owner since this car was traded in for a C8 at a Land Rover dealership in southern California. I have to imagine that a car this clean, the former owner may have registered it here. So my question is, any suggestions how I can locate and communicate with it's former owner?
Here are the last 5 numbers of the VIN - 25029
thanks.

Sounds like you found a gem! Taking a quick peek at the Vette Registry Data (found on the Research tab) there currently is only one 2000 convertible registered here, unfortunately it isn't yours. The relatively recent expansion of the site to include all the generations is the most likely reason new, and old, members who own C5s have not yet added their cars to the registry.
Did the dealership share a CarFax, or a similar, report with you when you were initially looking at the car? That should show where the previous owner(s) had it registered as a starting point to chase down the history. If asked, the salesman may reach out to the owner who traded in the car and see if they would be willing to get in touch with you.
Good luck with the search!

thanks for the reply which is what I was afraid of. Strangely enough, I do have the CarFax and it appears to have been purchased locally as the first Carfax entry shows 9 miles on the odometer and the DMV entry dated 4/19/2000 is located in Santa Clarita. So that tells me the owner was located here in town. All inspections and services were performed at the local Chevrolet dealership, 1 owner 26 years 4 months.

I was going to suggest the same as Norsky. Ask the Land Rover dealer if they would give your contact info to the previous owner and let them decide whether they want to talk to you.
I did this with the motorhome I bought at a big dealer and ended up being able to email with the previous owner.
It's worth a shot.

I will give it a shot as the worst that can happen is for them to just decline.
thanks
(seems like you have had your share of corvettes as well :)

If you have a friend in the law enforcement community they may potentially be able to assist, but that might be a long shot also.
Yes, have enjoyed a few. "BLUBYU" will most likely be the last tho'. ZOOM... Zoom...!!!

I normally hold off on law enforcement friends only if there are property damage issues or something serious. This switch is puzzling as there are zero add ons to the car and yet I ventured to using the switch in case its a kill switch but the car continued to run. For me this is my 7th vette and have had C3, C4, C5 and C6's which I love driving, I currently have 3 in the garage and all have been single owner cars which I purchased directly from them so getting answers never presented such a challenge. I will reach out to the dealership and see what they have to say and post my results.
Thanks
