Vette(s): Silver 1974 Convertible - L82 4 speed Low miles (was only 8,900 when I bought it in March 2006) - Now 54K miles. Original owner bought it as an investment for son's college expenses. 2008 Jetstream Blue Convertible
A couple of months ago, I was surfing e-bay and found a horn button for a C6 that could supposedly fit other current Chevy models, including my Silverado.  Problem was, you had to remove the airbag to properly install the emblem.  I asked here and brother Joel gave me significant warning against fooling with something that was designed to save my life.  I listened.  For a while.

That original horn button had been listed at $60 plus $6 shipping.  A few weeks ago, someone listed the same style horn cover for only $6 with free shipping.  I couldn't resist.  Once I got it and started looking at it, I came up with an alternative.  The piece was very thin aluminum with tabs designed to go around the opening to hold it in place.  Keeping in mind what Joel had said and knowing my lack of mechanical know-how, I knew a true "install" wasn't going to happen.  Instead, I got my tin snips and cut all of the tabs and some of the edge off, then went for the super glue.

Not the greatest job, but it does give a unique look and makes me smile every day when I look down at the steering wheel of my C6 Silverado.

I wanted a Corvette my whole life, but I never dreamed of all the wonderful people I would meet because of it!

Marshall, If we see you at the next gathering and you have a crossed flags tattoo on your forehead, can we assume that you crashed the truck and the air bag went off?
