WOW................!

Not that I don't love my car and think that it is worth a lot to me, but I am having trouble seeing how two people could bid up a '68 327/350 convertible Vette (Lot 350.1) to $152,000.00 at the Barrett - Jackson Palm Beach Auction.

As of mid Saturday, it's the highest $$$ car of the entire auction.  It even beat out a restored '69 437/435 coupe by 2k.

When I heard that a '68 went for that much, I assumed it was an L-88, or possibly a L-89.  Usually the mid-years get the crazy prices, but a very nice  '67 327 just went for $72,000.00.

Since I have the base 327/300 HP engine, I'll take $125,000.00 even though my car is a little better optioned.

Honestly, It's nice to see a '68 get some props.  The '68 doesn't get the respect it deserves, but I just don't understand how a '68 small block Vette is beating out C-1's, C-2's and Shelby's & Boss's.

105,000 miles, dirty engine compartment - something doesn't make sense. Were 68 verts with that option low production or something?

Definitely a nice car with great history and accolades. Darn near all original and they state the engine has never been out of the car. But 152K...I just don't get it.

I think it may have come down to the right buyers at the right time for the seller. When these collectors really want something and find it, price is not a problem for them.Big%20smile As noted, there has been alot of really nice cars going for much less. Aaron19762008-03-29 17:51:57

Vette(s): Silver 1974 Convertible - L82 4 speed Low miles (was only 8,900 when I bought it in March 2006) - Now 54K miles. Original owner bought it as an investment for son's college expenses. 2008 Jetstream Blue Convertible
I caught part of the auction uesterday, but I didn't see that.  Guess it must have been when I was sweeping the cobwebs out of the garage after I took my Vette for a ride!

I wanted a Corvette my whole life, but I never dreamed of all the wonderful people I would meet because of it!

I'm still confused by this.

Not to offend anyone, but how can two (at least 2) bidders can run up a low optioned '68 L-79 ot 152K is beyond me.

I watched a 70 ZR-1 (1 of 20) LT-1/M-22/F-41 Vettes go for 85K and a couple of C1 & 2's go for around 60 -70k.

Further, if I had 150k to spend @ B-J, I would be buying a big block midyear or a Shelby.

I can't wait until ths is re-run so I can watch it.

You know if we all had 150K to buy some C3's with , most of us would be able to find about 3 or 4 real nice ones under 50K each, and buy them all!Big%20smile

I watched the hammer fall on this one, I think what pushed it high was they had a ton of documentation. In fact they even had the order sheet from the dealer to the factory, plus window sticker.

It was nice to see ti climb in price, wont be too long until we all wont be able to afford our C3's anymore,, Rolling%20On%20The%20Floor%20Laughing
