You probly already have this info...You can get a free Restoration Package for your Corvette from GM/Chevrolet. Call the Chevrolet Customer Assistance hotline at (800) 222-1020 or 810-696-4800. You will need to supply the VIN of the car.

The phone call only takes 4-5 minutes of your time and is absolutely free. The Restoration Package usually gets sent out to you within 2-3 business days of your request and includes the following:

Chevrolet Past Model Parts
Chevy Restoration Corvette Manual
These are unbound photo copies of the manual. The Restoration Manual is a specifications book for the model year that you request. It includes several magazines articles, followed by an order guide for that model year, General Information and a Vehicle Overview. MVMA specifcaitons for your requested model year. The Past Model Parts information is a directory of suppliers that carry GM Restoration parts, shops, suppliers and publications. There are several threads already that discuss this, but it is good to have a fresh look once in awhile. The package costs the folks in Canada about $45 (CD?) but they get more documentation about their car because import records are available.

It is a good package though. I haven't made it all the way through all the material yet but plan to by the time "The Toy" comes home in early April from the winter storage spot.

Yeah,I had just gotten the package for my '77 and hadnt gone thru it all,when it was totalled.Now I supposedly got one coming for the '79.Hasnt arrived yet! |sad|

Ordered mine about 5 months ago. Sent 2 (78/79) in same package. Got it in about 3 weeks. I'd reorder if 18 months! Usefull stuff! Mike

I posted this 3or4 months ago ,it got a ton of hits,quite a few of the members sent for the packets and got them,some didn't and yes there is a charge for our Canadian friends,unless they can get somebody down here in the states to send the info in for them down here,I dont know how well that would work,but I guess you could try. There is a ton of info in these packets ,for restoration,and lists of all G.M. approved dealers of replacement parts,services,etc. But there still is no info in the packet for tracking down your own personal vette,back to the plant they claim all that info is gone,old files in the dumpster I guess.But as I said earlier,in the old post,the Corvette is there oldest model and still being produced,there crown jewel and I am sure they want to keep every one they can alive and well that they can.P.S. G.M. isnt just doing this for Corvettes You can get packets for any make and model that they have produced,cars and trucks .So send for it ,it only takes a couple of minutes,make sure you have your VIN ready when you call,some ask for it some don't,the best part is its free,when was the last time you got something for free?
