Vette(s): 1987 C4 Unrestored with 14,000 miles as of 2010, Two-Tone #59V Silver Beige and #69L Medium Brown Metallic - museum quality. Originally special order built for a GM Chief Engineer - stored for 22 years.

I'm looking for info, ideas for enclosed transport carriers to carry my Vette from FL to KY.

So far estimates are running $1000 to $1200 each way.

My main concerns are to keep miles way way down on the Vette, but get her to the museum safe and sound as affordable as possible.

I checked on the Auto Train and that's out of the question. Found posts where damage to wheel bearings and axles occured on a regular basis from the tie down methods.

Anybody headed that way with room to spare in their trailer, or know of cheaper enclosed rentals that are safe?
