Scott,
Would it help ta ease yer mind know one of my C3 buddies bought a new C6 this year.? Yeah he's one of them up-itty heatin an Air Conditioning guys...
Course the other end of the spectrum is his brother, a GM exec. He got his bro the deal for the car. He drives a new program vette each year. But, he is from here and is pretty down ta earth too.
Funny thing I was readin in a C5 Forum taday how they don't see anybody but mostly C5 people wavin??? They thought the C5 owners did'nt know what it meant yet. That's kinda along the lines of what yer sayin.
Maybe I need ta start payin more attention or I'm gettin up-itty too cuz I feel like sometimes I'm one of the last fellars tryin ta Save The Wave... Unless I run inta some other ol school kinda fellars.
I reckon we just need ta give each other a chance ta play tagether...

Naaa, I love Corvettes but I am a C3 guy at heart.
I might pick up a later model sometime for a driver, but it would have to be a deal. I hate to drive something off the lot that I payed more than sticker for so that its worth about 1/2 in two years .

I will support anything C3 to the end but I get so frustrated at the new Corvette Buying people. I got snubbed three times today on my trip to Mid America and back and passed one C5 running about 85 and waved as hard as I could. He just sneered and went on about his business.

cj5nutz, I'd bet that many, if not most, of the C6's out there are leased. Who's going to care about a rental car? You're gonna dump it back on the dealer after a couple of years, and get another car. Not necessarily another Corvette, though. Depends upon what's 'in' when your lease is up. And why would you get your hands dirty fixing anything on your rental, when all you have to do is drop it off at the dealer for service?
No wonder they don't wave. No wonder they don't know anything about the car, really. It's only temporary. And it's mostly for show, at that.
I'm sure there are true blue Corvette lovers who own C6's. Who understand what the car is, what it can do, what its heritage is. I just don't think they're as high a percentage of the total C6 'community' as C3 lovers are of that total generation of ownership.
You gotta really like our cars to cope with all the time and expense involved in owning one. It has to be something you really enjoy when you're driving it, and also when you're not.
I bet you're right. When the C6 fad passes, and the cars go off lease, they'll start to 'trickle down' to people who couldn't afford them new, but who will really enjoy what the car is all about. And I bet they wave back at us, too!
A final word of hope: I got passed by a silver C6 just a couple of days ago, and the guy not only waved but looked over and smiled as he did. And I was driving a C4!
