I was watching the Meechum auto auction last Sunday on T.V. A beautiful yellow 75 Vette convertable with a new top and with mostly new parts inside and out sold for only $15,000. That was a big disappointment. Any one else see that? any thoughts. Later, Gene

Vette(s): 1981 - 59 Beige over Cinnebar leather. Edlebrock top end, 2200 stall w/shift kit, 3:55s, Mufflex maniback exhaust, nice stereo, 16 in AREs w/BFGs
At that price it was a party. One of 4 things happened
A) The car was "funny" and we couldnt see it on TV but they knew it in the room
B) The car went at no reserve and the seller rolled the dice
C) It was a hardship sale (seeing this often right now)
D) The car was short hammered (though not likely)

A, B or C are quite likely

KeBo, I think (B) is probably the answer, there was no reserve. Gene

Vette(s): '75 Stingray Coupe - 350 Bored, Edelbrock Alum. Heads, Performer Intake/ Carb., Harland Sharp Roller Rockers, MSD Ign., XE Comp. Cam, Pete Jackson Gear Drive, Hooker Headers, Side Pipes, TH400, 3000 RPM Stall and 3.55 Rear Gears
I see a lot of cars on Meecum go for under value. The buyers just steal them.
They get in the sellers face telling him to take the reserve off then end the Auction abruptly instead of pushing a few more grand.

It seems like most folks think a original chrome bumper car should run around $15,000-20,000.

Then a 75 goes for $15,000 and its underpriced?

Man I may NEVER figure this deal out.

I thought the 68-72 were the most coveted?

THE `75 WAS THE LAST C3 CONVERT. IT HAS VALUE, I THINK THE CAR WAS "FUNNY "AS KEBO STATED.

A nice 75 vert is all day at 19000 to 23000.  When pricing these things, you have to take into account what it needs. A chromey vert in solid high 3s low 2s conditon with a #s match SBC and a 4 speed is high 20s. Big blocks, LT-1's, air, they keep going...  Lousy ones can be found for 6k too..  I still say something was up with the car they didnt say on TV.  They'll never ever say "this car is funny"..
