I was thinkin about the Registry today, and was wondering if there were any original '68/9 L88 cars registered here. The search function doesn't really provide for that info. I can look for 427, and HP ratings, but...the one car that comes up doesn't appear to be an actual L88...just listed as a 430hp 427.
I do know that one of the TWO ZL1 cars is registered here, but I am looking for factory built L88 '68/9 cars. The L88 was rated at 430hp, and the search lists ONE car with 430hp...but it may not be an L88.
Is there another way to do this...other than just posting a poll?

I did find ONE '69 listed as an L88/automatic/coupe

Vette(s): 2004 Commemorative Edition Coupe, Auto w/HUD. 13K miles in 2015. Sold 1982 Red Coupe
Was there any special coding in the VIN that would indicate an L88?

No, unfortunately. The VIN on early Sharks don't even give engine size, such a L46, LT1, L71, etc...the VIN only showed it had a V-8 engine.
I know the L-88 was factory rated at 430hp, so that's one of the search criteria I used. However....the HP options listed in the Registry are all over the place. It brings up ONE '68 with 430hp, and 3 '69s. One of the '69s does state it is an L-88.
So..out of 196 '68/9 L-88s built, we have 1 registered here????
Well...at least one of the two ZL1s is a member here....

Well I found this 68:

And these 69's:

Bluestingray 194679S713903   1969 Convertible 427 430 4-Speed Manual 25,000 willis Tx

Gale Banks 80 194679S719537   1969 Convertible 427 430 4-Speed Manual 67,000 Seattle Washington

jonstr 194379S727107   1969 T-Top 427 430 3-Speed Auto 32,000

These are the only cars registered for those years and specifications,

Those are the same ones I found, Tuxman, but...none are listed as L88s, except the one I listed above...
My query was to find L88s. You can put in whatever HP you want when registering your Shark, so....it could be that ALL of these are L88s, or it could be that NONE of them are. I was just hoping that if they were, the owner would want them listed as such.

On a sadder note......it seems that John has SOLD his ZL1......at least he has said he did...
