Two days after the dealer ordered my 2006 coupe they got a code of 1100 (targeted production week). A week later (today) they they just got an event code of 3000 (Order accepted for production). With production of the 2006 coupes and convertibles not due to start till September 9th I am glad to get any advancement of the order status at all. It's been 37 years since my last new Corvette. That order took from October '67 till May '68 because I ordered from a small dealer and the '68 was a new model. GM still plays the game of big dealers get the goodies.

Boy this is moving right along. It's Tuesday August 30th and I am told my event code is now 3300 (Order selected for production by assembly plant) and it is now the week of September 12th instead of the 19th.
Good Show Chevy. I am starting to breath hard.

I called the museum today (Sept 16th) to schedule my pickup. They wanted to schedule me for the 10th of October but I talked them into the 3rd. This is my dealer's first museum delivery and I had to tell them that the museum staff had to have some conformation from the dealer. The staff is also sending me info on the Nashville car rental arrangement and motels in Bowling green. Got to pay for the car yet thou.

I got the museum letter yesterday (Sept 18th) verifying the schedule for the plant tour and the museum delivery. For me that is the 11:45 a.m. CST, Monday October 3rd, 2005 time slot. A supplement to the letter contains restaurants, motels, etc and the suggestion that I fly into Nashville, TN and rent a one way car thru Enterprise. They also say that a web cam will be directed at my car (http//:www.corvettemuseum.com)so that family and friends can witness the delivery.

I am back home from the Oct 3rd Museum delivery(last Monday). The plant tour lasted over two hours and we went all the way from painted parts to the final dyno check. I got to start one as the first start once assembled (the motor had been run at least twice before). The line alternated between convertibles and coupes with Z06's something like every 5th or 7th (according to them). The tour took slightly over 2 hours. Carroll, our guide, then took us around the museum and finally to our new car sitting in web cam position #1. This car is so loaded with electronics that he had to instruct me as part of the package. We left the museum after 5 pm and stayed over nite in Bowling Green as we were exhausted. Get the morning Museum Delivery (7:45 am) if you can. The Heads Up Display is a dream as I tip my steering wheel down so much that you can't see the speedo. It is only available as part of the 3LT option package. The XM radio saved the day for us as we zipped west on I40 back to our Arizona (1750 mi/three days).

Sounds like it was a very exciting time and a lot of fun! Now that you're home, and maybe even using your new Baby (C6). How do you like her?
