Line Worker excitement

So, do you think that Corvette line workers are excited to build a new car? Or is it "just a job" to them and they don't care what car they are building?

Not sure, but I've been tempted many times to apply for summer work as a line worker for one of the "cool" cars (you know, Corvettes...uhm...McLarens...TVRs...eh..that's it )

In 1999 I spent alot of time speaking to the guy that
installs the driver door. He thought he may be doing
that same job for 5 years. In 2003 he was not at that
station. He would have time to smoke and drink coffee
between door installations. I believe he had been with
GM for 17 years. He had a good attitude about everything
but I didn't learn much more. I think most of the line
workers just consider it a job. All the workers that I have ever
talked to are always eager to talk to visitors. Maybe
it's something to add variety to the day. I asked one guy
about the differences in color and he dragged me back
to where the facias were to compare them. I have been
in the factory about 10 times and have no complaints
about anybody. Wil must be doing something right to keep
the morale up. I would enjoy working there for free for
a bit but I think it would turn into " a job".

I spent about six day's with the people at BG on the line. I did not see or talk to one that thought it was just a job. These people really care about what they do and doing the best job they can. I asked the QC manager about about the positive moral. He told me they might have one or two grumblers. BUT THAT WAS IT. They really do want Corvette to be a world leader.
