Just reading the new Corvette Quarterly and leaning that the C-6 is not projected to have a gas-guzzler tax when it receives its EPA certification. Quote from John Stein of Corvette Quarterly; "emissions are reduced, in part, through the use of an electronic throttle control that "learns" the habits of drivers and smooths out their sometimes-jerky throttle application."

Are the C5s subject to Gas Guzzler tax? I thought their EPA was exceptional, especially for a sports car!?

As to what criteria the EPA and regulatory folk use to figure gas guzzler taxation, I wish I could answer that question. I'm sure somebody here can help us out.
My guess, the excuse proably is, it is a high performance specialty car, a 2 seater to boot. With an emphasis on performance. Just a short ride in a VEtte you know what you've got. Enter in engine size, motor specs the whole package tells us this furthur.
Coupled with the fact that if you really want this kind car it is assumed you will just pay up. We are a minority in the economic cycle. They however are City Hall. And you know what they say about City Hall?
